Se encuentra en frutas, verduras y cereales integrales, y es un nutriente esencial que debemos a\u00f1adir a nuestra dieta. La fibra diet\u00e9tica, las porciones comestibles de las paredes celulares vegetales resistentes a la digesti\u00f3n, es un componente extremadamente beneficioso de nuestra dieta. No solo ayuda a prevenir muchas enfermedades, sino que se ha demostrado que ayuda a perder peso al reducir la ingesta de alimentos en las comidas. Esto se debe a que los alimentos ricos en fibra tardan m\u00e1s en digerirse, lo que produce una mayor sensaci\u00f3n de saciedad. Al no digerirse, no aporta calor\u00edas. Al ser un material indigerible, la fibra insoluble se asienta en el tracto gastrointestinal y atrae agua a las heces, absorbiendo fluidos y adhiri\u00e9ndose a otros subproductos de la digesti\u00f3n que est\u00e1n listos para transformarse en heces m\u00e1s blandas. Su presencia acelera el movimiento y el procesamiento de los desechos, lo que ayuda a prevenir la obstrucci\u00f3n gastrointestinal, el estre\u00f1imiento o la disminuci\u00f3n de las deposiciones.<\/p><p>La fibra insoluble reduce el riesgo de enfermedad diverticular al prevenir el estre\u00f1imiento y las obstrucciones intestinales. Adem\u00e1s, ayuda a prevenir el c\u00e1ncer de colon al mantener un pH \u00f3ptimo en los intestinos, impidiendo que los microbios produzcan sustancias cancerosas. Dado que la fibra insoluble no se absorbe en el cuerpo, sus calor\u00edas no se absorben para aumentar de peso.
