Apple Cider Vinegar for Detoxification

People have used apple cider vinegar (ACV) for thousands of years as a cure-all for all kinds of health ailments. ACV is known for its weight loss properties, reducing blood sugar and insulin, and increasing satiety (feeling full, that is). Throughout the internet, there are many health and beauty stories about ACV. Some stories are supported by science, while others are based from personal experiences. Being one of the more popular solutions for weight loss and digestive disorders, I’d like to explain what Apple cider vinegar is and how it has helped me.

What is ACV?

Apple Cider Vinegar is made from sugar-fermented apples that, during its fermented process, transforms into alcohol and later into vinegar by way of acetic acid bacteria. With the organic, raw, unfiltered, unprocessed Apple Cider Vinegar, you
will see the “mother” culture. The “mother” culture is the cloudy substance of protein enzyme molecules and probiotic bacteria found at the bottom.

Acetic acid found in Apple Cider Vinegar helps to eliminate cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood vessels which cause a thickening, hardening, and narrowing of artery walls that contributes to high blood pressure.
Apple Cider Vinegar boost circulation and energy levels as well as lower blood pressure.

Apple Cider Vinegar aids in weight loss by metabolizing your body’s glucose, preventing your body from over-producing insulin which can leave you craving sugar and other foods, which will add to your weight gain.
Apple Cider Vinegar increases feelings of satiety, or making you feel fuller for a longer time.

Apple Cider Vinegar aids in detoxification with its enzymes that stimulates your liver function and lymphatic drainage.  It also has healthy bacteria that filter to your gut and aid in digestion and waste elimination.
The acetic acid found in Apple Cider Vinegar exhibits alkaline properties in your body, which helps to balance your body’s pH level.

What are the benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar?

Apple Cider Vinegar has become a very popular natural-health remedy. Its properties has many benefits, supported by science, which includes weight loss, lower blood pressure, and body detoxification.  The main substance in vinegar, acetic acid, can kill harmful bacteria or prevent them from multiplying. It has a history of use as a disinfectant and natural preservative.  My favorite benefit of Apple Cider Vinegar is that it suppresses my appetite.  The acetic acid found in apple cider vinegar may have a direct role in the body’s central appetite regulation.  ACV can increase feelings of fullness and help you eat fewer calories, which may lead to weight loss.  Apple Cider Vinegar helps prevent fat accumulation.  Apple cider vinegar helps prevent the build up of fatty cells in the body, such as the visceral fat cells that tend to accumulate around the belly.  Apple Cider Vinegar helps boost metabolism.  Acetic acid aids with boosting your metabolism, helping you process fats and carbohydrates more efficiently.

How much Apple Cider Vinegar to drink per day for weight loss?

To avoid over-consumption and derive its proper benefit, we have to ask, “How to drink Apple Cider Vinegar in the morning?”  In general, it’s best to consume Apple Cider Vinegar in the amounts of 1 to 2 tablespoons in the morning to help fight bloating and gas.  When trying to lose weight, try drinking ACV right before having your meal.  Doing this will provide a feeling of fullness and prevents overeating.  It also helps to break down starches that are eaten.  You can also either add it to your foods, especially salads, or drink it straight.  For better digestion, I take it on an empty stomach in the morning.  If the taste is too harsh for either your throat or stomach, you can dilute it with water or orange juice.  I started taking ACV with a glass of orange juice and a tablespoon of honey.

It is recommended to use Organic, Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar that contains “the mother”, the cloudy enzymes that assist in digestion and appetite suppression.

Be careful not to take too much ACV.  Bone loss and tooth corrosion happens when taking too much Apple Cider Vinegar.  As with all foods and drinks, take it in its suggested moderation.

When to drink ACV?

If you are suffering from indigestion, a morning dose of ACV, on an empty stomach, will prevent bloating and gas.  Initially, dilute the ACV with water if the ACV makes you feel nauseous.  To lose weight, drink ACV before eating your meal.

Does ACV go bad?

As ACV ages, it may become hazy, with sediments or fibers sitting at the bottom, and/or separates, but ACV does not go bad.  Its acidic nature allows self-preservation, preventing contamination from pathogens, so it can be consumed, even after its labeled expiration date.

1.) Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar With the Mother is the first ACV product that I have used and I still use.  Initially, it helped to flush out wastes when I took it in the morning.  I still continue to take it when I eat more than necessary.  Since our acid levels naturally decrease with age, I do my best to take a shot each morning to maintain the acid levels to properly digest my food.

2.) Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies for Women is a great alternative, if you don’t like the strong vinegar taste and/or capsules bother you.  These gummies don’t stick to your teeth when chewing, so you can enjoy your “candy” and digestion too!  Even though it says “for Women”, men can enjoy them as well!!!

3.) Raw Apple Cider Vinegar Capsules with Mother is a capsule solution that’s very easy to swallow and high-potency.  Take this with your meals to reduce your acid-reflux and increase your energy levels.  I was hesitant about the price, compared to other capsules, but this is definitely one time where you get what you pay for!!!

4.) Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Capsules is another tasteless capsule solution.  No initial bad taste and no after-taste.  With added ingredients of cayenne pepper and Inulin, better blood-flow and digestion are improved benefits.  A bit cheaper than the above product, but the added ingredients helps with the weight-loss workouts.

5.) Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Beverage, Concord Hibiscus comes to the rescue of Bragg customers who are bothered by either the smell or taste of their original ACV product.  This prebiotic treat quickly helps with digestion.  The capsule products are great.  At the same time, I still prefer to feel these liquid products go to work after taking a shot of them!!!

6.) Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Blends with Honey 32 Oz includes the health benefits of both ACV and honey!!!  Typically it is advised to take Bragg’s ACV with honey to sweeten the strong taste of vinegar, but the honey provides extra benefits, listed here. is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for website owners to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon properties (.com,, .ca etc.) and any other website that may be affiliated with Amazon Service LLC Associates Program.
